每逢佳节倍思亲

It's fu's birthday soon, 16th dec to be exact. This year i have no motivation to organise a birthday party for fu. Too many important people won't be able to make it. So i've decided that we'll have the celebration on christmas eve which happens to be fu's lunar birthday this year. It'll also mean that we'll be able to celebrate my sil's and fil's birthday. It's going to be a mini party for immediate family members. Ky's family and mine. I was hoping that erjie would be back with all my nephews since i know it'll be school holidays for the boys already. Any party or family gathering will not be the same without them. Unfortunately erjie told me that chances of them coming back are very low cos they've not applied for a passport for johann. :(

I wonder when i'll be seeing them again. 5hours away doesn't sound that far. But you'd be crazy just to drive all the way there for the weekend. This means any visit will require at least a day's leave from work. That'll mean 2 since both ky and i will have to take leave. Having to set aside leave for assignments and exams and on rare occasions when my mil is not available to take care of fu means each day of leave got to be taken only after very careful consideration.

The next chance to go over for a visit will probably be cny. This time it coincides with big gor's 7th bd. I'd however ruled going over during cny out. I didn't ask ky. Cny celebration has always been quite elaborate in ky's family (well, at least compared to mine). It'll be too imposing on ky to pop that question. I know he'll feel bad rejecting me. Erjie told me also they won't be driving back cos that's the only opportunity for chris to take a rest from his work since that's the only time throughout the year that the suppliers from taiwan and china won't disturb him.

Sigh, looks like we will be spending the two festive seasons (plus two birthdays) apart...
