two nights ago while fu was having his bottle of milk before his sleep, he complained that his mouth was painful. We asked him why it's painful and fu said "cos I talk and talk and talk and talk". We thought it was funny and were not bothered about it.
Yesterday when i came back during lunch time, my mil said fu complained his mouth was painful again. This time i was a little concerned and examined his mouth. It did seem a little red at his gums but as there was no fever, I was again not too bothered by it.
In the evening, fu seemed listless and was unusually lying on the sofa while watching tv. I took his temperature again, it was 37.9degrees. I again examined his mouth, this time i saw some small white spots in his mouth and decided that I should bring him to Dr Bel the following day, hopefully dr bel will tell me it's not HFMD.
Even though there are no HFMD cases at fu's school, I was quite resigned that he caught the HFMD last night. For the fact that we went to the Zoo (playground) and Shichida over the weekend and who knows there are unknown cases in the school? I started to take precautions like washing ting's toys and tried to keep fu out of our room (where ting sleeps). Worried, I even had dreams that I was at Dr Bel's clinic already.
So this morning, we dropped ting at mil's place and brought fu to dr bel. Fu had started to like Dr bel and seemed happy about it. Along the way he asked ky, "daddy, why are you not working?"... Fu was extremelly cooperative at Dr Bel's clinic, was talking softly and took his weight and height without kicking a fuss (he usually needs alot of cajoling to take the measurements). When it was our turn, he sat on the chair on his own and told doc bel, "doctor, my mouth is painful."
He opened his mouth as wide as he could (it was painful to do so) for doc bel to examine. Doc Bel examined, "not convincing, it's very localised, could be trauma from brushing." We were also told to keep him away from his sister and cousins and from school till next monday just as a precautionary measure because of his moderate fever.
I heaved a big sigh of relief... :)
along the way back, fu noticed that we were not heading to his school and questioned again, "why am i not going to school?" Of course, we told him the reason. :)
