5 years!

I cant believe it! We've been married for 5 years! Yahh! 5 years? Wait a minute.. How come? Only 5 years? I feel like we've been married for sooooo long! Oops.. Is that something bad? Look at it negatively it sounds like I've gotten sick of ky. I'd choose to think that it's cos I had gotten very used to him and feel that we've known each other for the longest time.

We went to take our anniversary photo today. I'm still trying to get used to seeing myself in the short hair. Oh my.. It's really not an easy task to take pictures with 2 young children. Hopefully it'll get easier as the years go by. :)

hmm how about a story? Sometime ago we went to east coast park. We went in the late afternoon. Fu rode a bicycle and we followed him, pushing ting in her stroller. We left when the sun was setting and when we reached home, ky opened the car boot door and..
Ky: where's the stroller?
Me: gasp! Where's the stroller? It's not there? U didnt keep it at the carpark?
Ky: i thought u took it?
Me: no i didnt. Why would i? U're always the one keeping it...
......
It was turning dark and we all have not had our dinner. Ky said he'll drive there later to try his luck. I thought for a while and suggested to him that he can instead ask his father to drive pass if it's convenient for him since east coast park is a lot nearer to eunos than to punggol. Also knowing that he often drives out to pick up workers at that time i thought we should try our luck in a smarter way. With much reluctance (you see, ky's the kind who finds asking for favours imposing), he called his father. About 15min after his call, our phone rang and yes, the stroller was still there!

Then.. Not so long ago, we went to east coast park again. This time we went in the morning and we asked liang's family along. We were there to play with sand. Fu was delighted and was having lots of fun with the sandcastle set. Ky and i took turns to play with the boys and worried that the sand will scratch our wedding rings, we intuitively took out our rings when we played. I did not have pockets and i passed mine to ky for safekeeping. I asked for my ring back when we reached our next destination (changi airport) for lunch and ky dug his pocket. He found mine and passed it to me. He dug further to look for his. Dug left, right, pouch, looked around the car, next to his seat, everywhere. The ring was gone! I was a little upset that he lost our wedding ring but noticing that he looked very distressed i didnt nag/scold him. I just told him we'll try the east coast carpark when we're done here. Around 2 hours later, we drove back to carpark we parked our car earlier. The kids were tired and fell asleep in the car. I sat with them in the car while ky went off for his ring hunt. He turned around almost immediately after he reached our previous parking space. Bent down, stood up and smiled. Yes! We were that lucky! He found the ring. We were delighted, kissed and drove home.

The following week, we were going to east coast park again. This time with sil and zelda. Also having plans to play with sand, i asked ky not to wear the wedding ring. Remembering our near miss he agreed not to but commented that it felt weird.

So.. I thought i should get us a pair of "rough wear" rings. Knowing that it'll be meant for outdoor rough play i wanted to get something really outdoor themed and cheap (so there's no need to take it out when playing with sand and even if scratched also not sayang but rugged). I was thinking and asking people around if they had ever seen a wooden ring. I thought a wooden ring would look really cool. Too bad, nobody had the answer. So i asked sil if she had seen cheapo rings (like $1 rings) and "yes" came the answer. After some hunts at the "ah lian" shop that sil mentioned and other shops on different ocassions, I managed to find a pair of stainless steel rings. I used my thumb to measure the ring size (cheapo shops dont have the actual sizes la) and i had to force the ring down my thumb. That'll mean it'll me a little tight on ky's ring finger but after much searching, i thought that would be the best bet (sizes were limited). I was happy with the gift. $4.90 x 2 for our anniversary gift. A pair of stainless steel "rough wear" rings. Still got "diamond" one leh.. :P

Will upload pictures when.. Hmm.. i'm less lazy :P

So after this very chiong hei post, I'll end with a verse that got stuck in my brain when i heard it over the radio:
The key to a lasting marriage is not to marry the person you love, but to love the person you married.
