Eager not to let fu feel unimportant, I wanted very much to make his bd "his day". One that'll make him the centre of attention, one that'll give him a helluva time. I asked ky what we shld do for him, he said maybe a simple one, dinner with our parents. Totally not what I was thinking.
I had a few ideas but time was not at my side. I was thinking it'll be nice if it's a party that he can celebrate with his friends, rather than his parents' friends. However, lack if planning and it being the school holidays made it impossible to invite his classmates, names that he would always mention at home, over.
Then I thought, since it's to let him have a good time, we can bring him out to do the things he likes. His favourite haunts like the Changi Airport, Pasir Ris Park or the fishfarm. We'll let him eat his favourite food, play his favourite games, be with his favourite pple, ahem... Hmm... Then again, it sounds like just another weekend.
Then I thought, let's have a picnic party, have our immediate family members celebrate with him on a pinic mat, swim suit, beach toys, BD cake.. Well.. Didnt materialise as I was too cowardy to execute that. A bit too many things to prepare plus an uncontrollable element, weather.
Then I thought, he'll prob go "crazy" if it was a yellow themed party (yellow being his favourite colour). We can have a yellow themed party at home with our immediate family. Ah.. But how to get the yellow things? So I chatted with my lobang-full sil aka mushroom. She told me she has a friend who is a party planner and would have all the yellow plates, cups, balloons, "blowers" (err.. Whatever the name is, nor, u blow it then got something sticking out). Sounds wonderful to me! Minutes after our chat, mushroom told me that all's settled and her friend will send her those stuffs the next day. Wow, talk about efficiency! However, by then I already had a different idea, wouldnt it be better if it was a thomas and friends themed party? Mushroom's friend does have thomas' party stuff but we eventually didnt get those cos they were running low on stocks.
Nonetheless, our spirits were not dampened. We ordered food from 3 different deliveries. Menu included pasta, pizza and garlic bread from pasta mania for fu and zelda, two curry buns from golden pillow and indian fair from my all time favourite kansama. We also had chocolate fondue (which unfortunately didnt flow well) and bd cake from swensens.
When Mil arrived, she walked out of the playroom smilingly and told me fu pointed to mil and told Zelda, "Zelda, this is my grandmother." haha.. Doesnt he sound hospitable?
When everyone left, fu continued his part 2 with mushroom and only returned at about 10pm.
Oh so what did he get for his bd?
From papa: a Thomas and friends activity book that works with his leap pad (actually can I get some credit? I chose it, ky only paid for it :P)
From me: Gordon (one of the bigger tank engines in Thomas and friends) that works with his motor road and rail set.
