It's Fu's first day of school!

my version:

today is Fu's first day of school and we were almost late! On the way to popo's house, i was grumbling "it's very late, how can you wake up so late? It's your son's first day of school!" .........................

well anyway, since I used the word "almost" you would have known that we were not late, just that we didnt have time to have breakfast... Still that's better than being late right? ;)

Ky, mil, fu and I took the MRT to school. Ky is one very lucky person cos he got to stay in school to witness his son's first day there. Poor me had to go after dropping him cos I had to attend a compulsory course. Fu seemed quite at ease when I said goodbye.. "byebye mummy" as he sat down to play with the toys in school.

I checked with Ky on how fu did but i guess I'll let him write that part ;) haha.. now that i've posted this, I guess he has no choice but to write right? muahaha!

ganma, some pictures as promised.. not so nice cos very rush!

Finally.. in the classroom :)

Ky's version:

I think boy boy was a bit startled when he first went into the class. There were many children in there, at least 25 I think, and many teachers too. (7 of them including the vice principal).

The class was segmented into half hour sessions, with a change in activity every half hour. The first segment was playing with toys time. The children were sprawling on the floor and playing with all sorts of toys.

Boy boy did not want to join them on the floor. A teacher brought him to a table and gave him 2 baskets of “toys” to play with. The toys were actually 2 bowls in which 1 was filled with macaroni. With a spoon, boy boy was asked by the teacher to scoop the macaroni from 1 bowl to another. He did it obediently at first but I think he got impatient and attempted the primitive way – using his hands. Haha. I think he must have enjoyed playing with the macaroni as he kept playing.

The next segment was singing activity time. Despite coaxing from the teacher, boy boy refused to get to the floor and sit with the children. He just sat by the table, hands playing but eyes looking at the children. I suppose he felt uncomfortable to join in. Hopefully he will get over this discomfort as he attends more classes.

The following segment was activity time. Two little jie jie were colouring on some pictures. A teacher brought some papers for boy boy and soon he was scribbling away. The teacher commented that he was very good at handling the colour pencils. :)

Snack time was next. It was interesting to see the snacks the children brought. There were grapes, cheese, bread, honeystars and even a hard boiled egg! I think our children in Singapore are really lucky to be able to enjoy such good variety of food.

It was time to go home after that. Boy boy was the only one going home. The rest were staying on.

I think boy boy had done well for his first day in school. Hope he will enjoy it more and more.

Wow, I must say boy boy did very well on his first day. I think he will adapt very fast. Now is just the discomfort of playing with other children but this is what putting him in playgroup is all about (at least one of the reasons); to cultivate social skills. Good job boy boy....Ganma give a kiss!
