When I delivered Rachel, I only had a glance of her when the medical team placed her on me briefly before she got whisked off for special medical attention. Dr Kowa asked me to stay in bed for the night so I had no chance to see Rachel till the following day when needle for the drip and catheter were removed.
As soon as that happened, I asked for permission to go to the NICU. It was my first time in the NICU and the nurses there couldnt recognise me. They pointed to my baby.. "your baby is over there".
I went to the baby they pointed to. Stared at her and thought "this is my baby?...?" The baby opened her eyes and looked at me. I thought again "this is my baby???"
Then another nurse came and asked, "oh you are madam Toh, your baby is over there."
I walked over to the other baby.. fell instantly in love.. "yes... this is my darling rachel.."
