Jaundice: 197 (started phototherapy. Rachel's looked alot less yellow when I visited her)
Milk: 3ml every 3hourly
Feeding was stopped once in the afternoon as she was giving back 3.5ml of secretion. The consultant pediatrician examined her and observed that her tummy was soft thus feeding was resumed. Thereafter, Rachel seemed to be absorbing and digesting well and at 7.30pm, there was NIL feedback :)
I enquired about the long line. As needles are highly visible, inflammation can be seen from swelling or redness. However, since long line is internal, I was worried that should there be inflammation, it cannot be detected.
The nurse's replied was assuring. Inflammation can still be detected as the underarm area will be swollen. Tube will alsobe blocked thus the TPN will not flow well. Should that happens, the machine will send out a beeping alarm. Upon tube removal, the tip of the tube will also be checked for signs of inflammation.
