Among concerns of ting's well-being when she was born 2.5 months prematurely, I was worried that I would not be able to breastfeed ting exclusively for at least 6 months. This worry was heightened by the fact that ting was not with me to stimulate milk production plus the calculation of corrected age means that I would have to bf her for 8.5 months effectively.
During fu's time, i remember that milk supply peaked at about 6/7 months then it slowly reduced. This is congruent to the baby's requirement of milk that after 6 months, their demand of milk drops as semi-solids are introduced into their diet. As a result of my concern, I became almost totally intolerant to people who waste my precious and painstakingly expressed milk. Losing my temper at ky a few times when he absent-mindedly gave fu my freshly expressed milk. ARgh!!
Yesterday marked another milestone to ting's development. MIL fed ting for the first time some "rice paste" or "bee gou" (in teochew). It's a pity that I was not able to witness it. MIL said ting showed interest and was happy in the first two spoonfeeds, then soon lost her interest. She's going to make the paste more diluted and add some of my milk today. I hope she'll like it better.
YES! I made it for 6 (+2.5) months.
