Long weekends part II

I took my second consecutive Monday off on 16th. Having had such a good time with fu a week ago, it won't take a genius to guess that i dated my son out again.

As before, i asked fu in advance where he'd like to go. I wonder why he seems to know where he wants to go and what he wants to do each time. This time, "cycling" was his immediate answer. Since he didn't mention the location, i decided to be a bit lazy and just proceeded downstairs to cycle. That'll allow me to work around my expressing schedule and hopefully leave us enough energy to watch kungfu panda later in the afternoon.

It took little time for fu to re-familiarize with the bicycle (he rides his tricycle at home). I soon found him cycling off the jogging track and he soon started playground hopping. After more than an hour's cycling and playground hopping, fu finally agreed to head back to mil’s place.

We had lunch and I expressed and as he was watching Charlie and the chocolate factory DVD he was not too eager to go out. When the show finally ended, it was almost 3pm (his nap time). I asked if he wanted to go and (aiyah no need to guess the answer), I ambitiously tried to rush for the 3.20pm show. However, when we reached there, the show was about to start and tickets were selling fast. We’d have to sit in the third row if we were to watch that screening. So I decided to watch the 4.05pm show. I was hoping against reality that the ticketing officer will not be able to see that fu’s above 90cm so I can save a ticket’s money. Ha! Silly..

We had some time before show starts and fu was very happy to sit from racing car to racing car in the arcade next to the theatres. Everyday on our journey home or to mil’s place, he’ll boss ky around in the car “daddy, drive with two hands, daddy drive with one hand, daddy do like this like this.. etc”. At the arcade, he seemed to be mimicking his father, recalling how his father holds the steering wheel and trying to turn like the way ky does. It’s nice just to stand there to watch him. I pointed out to him that the steering wheel is not “H” but “T”. Coincidently, ky asked fu the same question at night and fu correctly told ky that he was driving a “T”.

I grabbed a booster seat for fu. I did not expect such a crowd on a Monday. The theatre was 75% filled up. Fortunately the one sitting in front of fu was also a child and his view was not blocked. When we went in, nothing was showing on screen and it took quite a while only for commercials to start. Fu kept asking when the show was starting and it just went from commercial after commercial…. Suddenly…. I noticed fu dozing off… oh no… I thought I’ll let him sleep while waiting for the show to start. When kungfu panda finally started, I was shaking and shaking him. He was so soundly asleep I just couldn’t wake him up. My worry was not just wasting the ticket, but also worried that he may wet himself in his sleep!

So, I watched the first 45min of Kungfu panda “alone”. Fu finally woke up, dry, to watch the rest of the show. I think he didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. I really liked the show! I highly recommend it. After the show, Fu continued “driving” at the arcade and running from one machine to another. I think to him, the highlight must be the arcade.

Doesn’t matter, I still had a great day. Much better than if it were to be any other guy sleeping on my shoulder in the first 45min of a movie.. haha!
