Last night, fu groaned in his sleep and when ky measured his temperature, i was shocked to see he's running a fever too and it's at 39.3 degrees. I promptly gave him the paraceutemal and he went back to sleep groaning occasionally and complained "so painful", referring to his throat. I tried to comfort him by staying close to him and told him we'll bring him to dr belinda today, which he acknowledged by nodding sulkingly, "i want to see my doctor."
So this morning, I called the clinic to get an appointment to save time from going in as walk-in patients. Fu and ting got their height and weight measured:
Fu: 105cm, 18.5kg
Ting: 77cm, 10,15kg
Before long, ting's name was called and we were greeted by Dr Bel. She commented that both fu and ting are growing very well, both of good size. She asked if i'm still breastfeeding and noticed that ting fights for her rights (one of her commonly used phrases "wah, so fierce ah"). She also asked if fu enjoys school and on his standard of chinese. My reply to her was, "oh, his teachers said he's good but actually it's cos his classmates are worse!" (if you ever heard fu in mandarin you'll know what I mean, he speaks in some angmoh slang).
Dr belinda noticed redness in their throats and advised that only their temperature need to be controlled. We'll continue with our paraceutemal but i asked for the correct dosage to be given. Sore throat or cough does not need treatment (other than giving manuka honey) unless it develops into a wheeze.
Oh i also told dr bel happily that ting is fully discharged from the cardiologist's clinic. She was not the least surprised looking from ting's good progress. Dr bel also commented that ting's speech is developing very well.
Before we left, i mentioned that ting till now still refuses to let go of our hands to walk on her own. Dr Belinda is not worried after observing ting's gait and some questions.
No doubt Dr Belinda charges a specialist consultation fee, i'm still very happy to make our way to mt e to spend that money.
