sorry folks.. i've been really busy coping with my assignment then work (I started after confinement on 8th Oct 07) so i can conserve my leave for Rachel when she's discharged.
So much has happened and I'm very glad all's good.
Rachel seemed to start absorbing well after the suspected stomach blockage scare. She's 1.895kg yesterday and we are hoping for a discharge soon. There are some criterias to meet for discharge:
1) must be able to maintain own temperature
2) must be able to suck
3) parents must have gone through the infant CPR course (which we will be attending tomorrow)
4) bb must put on weight for 3 consecutive days. Within which if bb did not put on any, the "days counter" will have to be reset to 1.
Last SaturdayI was ecstatic. My inlaws and aunt went to visit Rachel and one of the nurses helped me to push Rachel to the window. Suddenly I realised that she's off the monitor and off the feeding tube! I was jumping with joy. :)
The same day, I asked the hospital to let me direct breastfeed Rachel and guess what? We succeeded! Eng asked me how it felt like to feed her directly.. I replied "euphoric!". I was worried initially cos she's small compared to full term bbs and direct feeding can sometimes be quite a rough affair when bb doesnt want to latch. I was soooo happy i was dancing in my heart.
So now, we have to wait for the hearing screenings and eye test, infant CPR and that Rachel puts on everyday and we should be able to bring Rachel home... finally....!
Some pictures..
